I deeply care about the way I view the world. This could be referred to my mindset, or my perspective on life. I haven’t always been aware of my mindset, though. Because of how I grew up, I believed that external approval and praise were what would prove my worthiness. After spending practically my entire life chasing external validation, I realized that I was actually my biggest critic.

I struggled with my mental health for most of my high school years. When things finally got “bad enough,” I got the help I needed. Going to therapy slowly helped me change the way I see myself and the world around me. I’ve realized that self-awareness is the first step towards healing and accepting yourself in this endlessly dissatisfied world. Healing has become so important to me because before I acknowledged that I needed help, I wasn’t living my life.

I’d lost sight of all of my hopes, dreams, and ambitions. I slacked off in school. I isolated myself from friends. I felt completely numb in almost every part of my life. That’s why healing and shifting my mindset is so important to me. It’s helped me to become a hopeful and ambitious person again. It’s helped me accept myself and put myself out there. It’s helped me speak up for what I believe in. It’s helped me build trust in myself that I can do anything I put my mind to.
