Our world is filled with so many wellness products, daily routines, and diets that are supposed to “improve” our well-being, and so people are blinded from the fact that you don’t have to pay all this money or drastically change your daily routine to improve your well-being. Everyone has different perspectives on “well-being” based on how they live their lives, but what it is to me is being in tune with your body and mind and doing things that will ultimately make both feel better. Over the past year, I’ve started implementing small habits into my daily routines that have greatly improved my well-being, and so I wanted to share those with you today.

Morning Routine:

  • No phone until you’re physically out of bed and have drunk a glass of water

  • Shower in silence (science shows that silence is so important for brain function)

  • Take 3 minutes to write down 3 things you’re grateful for today

  • Download the positive affirmations “I am” app and say 3 affirmations every morning

  • Have breakfast! (even grabbing a Nature Valley bar is better than nothing)

Throughout the Day:

  • Be aware when unconsciously getting onto your phone

  • Slow down in mundane tasks and identify what you see, hear, feel, smell, or touch

  • Do a deep breathing exercise when something is stressful

  • Take the steps instead of the elevator

  • Park far away to get more steps in

  • Give out compliments when you notice something you like

  • Drink water consistently

Night Time Routine:

  • Write down 3 wins from the day (big or small)

  • Put your phone away at least 30 minutes before you fall asleep

  • Try to replace scrolling with reading

  • If the weather permits, take a walk (can even be less than 5 minutes)

  • 5 minutes stress relieving meditation

  • Watch a show that isn’t extremely horrifying or sad

  • Have a conversation with a family member or roommate about your days
